Founder and Owner
Shawn Martinez is the founder and owner of A Place to Belong, with over nine years of experience in the industry and seven years as a direct support professional. Shawn is passionate about ensuring that those under his care are having a blast, bringing forth their best selves, and gaining greater independence in their daily life skills. A devoted family man and Christian, Shawn is married to his lovely wife, who supports his ambitions, cheers for his success, and strives to help him achieve his goals. On the weekends, he and his wife like to hike, garden, and cook. He pursues art as a side interest and is recognized for his graffiti-style calligraphy and cartoons, through which he endeavors to infuse his creativity into the company. Shawn takes pride in leading a company that is based on God and that significantly contributes to improving the quality of life, for which he attributes all honor and glory to God.
Melinda Marquez
Lead Direct Support Professional
Melinda is a dedicated, bilingual, caregiver proficient in English and Spanish. She has 20 years of personal caregiving experience and over 5 years of professional experience as a direct support professional for individuals with developmental disabilities. She has been married to a wonderful man for 22 years and is a proud mother of 4 kids ranging in ages from 11-20 years old. She enjoys camping, cooking and quality time with family and friends. She is thrilled to be a part of 'A Place to Belong' and eagerly anticipates each day to assist those in need of additional support.
Sarah Fasi - Martinez
Program Supports
Sarah Fasi-Martinez serves as the Director of Program Supports at A Place to Belong. She brings six years of experience in the I/DD sector, sharing her aspirations with her spouse, Shawn Martinez. Her career includes two years as a Direct Support Professional and Base Site Lead, followed by a promotion to Residential Manager at a Thornton, Colorado firm aiding adults with disabilities for 4 years. In 2023, she embarked on new ventures. Presently, she is a Program Coordinator for a Residential Company in Broomfield and dedicates her time to support her husband in creating an inclusive community. Additionally, like her husband, Sarah is an artist on the side, who is always looking for ways to incorporate her artistic talents to enhance the organization and the quality of life it offers.
